Commissioner Kenerly indicted by Gwinnett grand jury

A Gwinnett County grand jury on Wednesday indicted the county's longest-serving commissioner, Kevin Kenerly, on charges of bribery and failure to disclose a financial interest in two properties the county rezoned. If convicted of all counts, Kenerly faces up to 22 years in prison. ATLANTA -- Atlanta police said two men who stormed a Buckhead CVS Pharmacy had one thing in mind -- stealing prescription drugs.The CVS Pharmacy across from Piedmont Hospital -- at the corner of Peachtree Street and Brighton Road -- was robbed of drugs Thursday morning. CONYERS, Ga. -- Conyers police are searching for people suspected of being involved in a fight with a man whose dead body was later discovered in a kudzu patch. Baby Gear Maker Has Received Reports Of Infant Strangulations WASHINGTON -- Baby gear maker Graco is recalling about 2 million strollers after receiving reports that four infants died in the strollers. WHITFIELD COUNTY, Ga. -- Officials with the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office said they arrested a sex offender after finding him in a tree house. Authorities said Tuesday that they arrested Bobby Hawkins on Saturday after several anonymous tips were phoned in to investigators. Hawkins was wanted on warrants on charges of failure to register as a sex offender, aggravated assault, giving a false name and a probation violation. Georgia Inmate Captured After Escape

MOULTRIE, Ga. -- A prisoner who escaped from a work crew in Moultrie has been captured. Authorities said 33-year-old Timothy Metrakos escaped Monday afternoon while working near Route 37. Officers with a police dog found him three-and-a-half hours later. Metrakos is incarcerated at the Colquitt County Correctional Institute, which accepts minimum- and medium-security inmates. SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. -- A local family said they are reeling after finding out that a local firefighter is accused of videotaping their daughter’s body at the scene of an accident and then showing it around town. Dayna Kempson-Schacht, 23, was killed when her car crashed into trees in Spalding County in July. DOUGLAS, Ga. -- Two people were in serious condition after a car struck a trailer carrying a church group on a hayride in Douglas, injuring 27 people. DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- Officials with FBI Atlanta said a Loomis employee was arrested and charged in connection with a robbery on a Loomis armored truck at DeKalb Medical Center. Man Steals Car With Sleeping Baby Inside

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Clayton County officials arrested a man Thursday who they said stole a car with a sleeping baby inside. The baby has since been found safe. Police said the incident began when a mother, Jetta Sellers, stopped to get gas at a BP station on Jonesboro Road on Thursday morning.
