Black bear on deck surprises homeowner
He was 300 pounds. He was huge. I would say, standing up, he was a good 6 feet, said Blumberg.
Blumberg told wsbtv.com that he immediately went to get his camera, but when he returned, the bear was gone.
Blumberg, who was home alone, said he gently stepped onto the deck in hopes of getting a picture of the bear from a distance. But the bear was actually climbing a pole, trying to get back onto the deck.
He wasn’t afraid of me at all, said Blumberg.
Blumberg said he went back inside and started beating on a window to scare the bear away.
He was looking at him like, ‘What are you doing?’ He just leisurely climbed down, said Blumberg.
He just went down the driveway like, OK, I’ll see you later.
A couple of years ago, Blumberg said his wife spotted a bear on their property, off of Coppermine Road in Lumpkin County.
This time, she was away on a camping trip.
He called her, and sent her the pictures.
She was showing the pictures to her buddies at the camp ground, Blumberg said.
Blumberg, a deer hunter, said he believes the bear was after two bird feeders hanging from the deck.
He never mentioned whether he ever got around to drinking that pot of coffee.
