Good Samaritan Jumps From Bridge To Avoid Crash
Police said the whole chain of events happened on the East West Connector in Smyrna at about 3 a.m. Saturday.
Investigators said Rozina Lynn Virani, 26, of Austell, was driving a black SUV when she lost control of vehicle and went into a guardrail on a bridge, disabling the SUVs lights and causing other damage.
A Good Samaritan stopped to help Virani, and as he was walking to the car, the driver of a white Ford Focus didnt see the SUV and crashed into it, right in the path of the Good Samaritan.
The Good Samaritan decided to jump off the bridge to avoid being hit, landing 37 feet below. Investigators said it was a miracle the man survived.
Weve seen people survive falls of this nature before, but to have the courage to sit up, grab his phone, which survived the fall too, and call 911and explain to him (the dispatcher) whats going on, it actually helped us get out here, pinpoint where he was at, so, its a miracle to me, Lt. Robert Harvey with Smyrna police said.
The man was taken to Atlanta Medical Center, where he is recovering.
Virani was taken into custody and has been charged with DUI and failure to maintain lane.
