Man Robbed, Shot Along Walking Trail In SE Atlanta
The shooting occurred June 20 at about 11 p.m. on the path trail near Hosea Williams Drive and Woodbine Avenue.
Dylan Pugh said one of his attackers had a red bandanna covering his face and the other had a shirt draped across his.
Usually we would be riding our bikes, but my back tire was flat so we were walking our bikes down a paved path, Pugh said.
The path is close to where Pugh lives.
He and his girlfriend went out that night to celebrate his 22nd birthday.
Pugh said they were having a great time, until they saw two men standing on a hill.
We thought it was a little odd because we dont normally see that many people at night, Pugh said.
They kept going and then Pugh said, We hear what sounded like people running and we turn around and before we know it there is the two of them.
Pugh said the masked men shoved him and his girlfriend to the ground.
Pugh told Channel 2s Erica Byfield the man wearing the red bandanna pistol whipped him repeatedly.
He now has three staples in his head.
Pugh said the abuse did not stop there. After stealing all of their belongings he said the man with the bandanna yelled once more, turned the gun down and shot him.
At the time I didn’t realize I was shot. I thought it was just a warning shot, to show that they had a gun, Pugh said.
The bullet went in his shoulder and out of his back.
I wasn’t fearful for my life. I was more fearful for my girlfriend and fortunately they didn’t touch her, Pugh said.
Pugh thinks if there was any hope of catching the masked men it will be because of a picture of his girlfriend’s bike.
Me and my girlfriends bikes, which they took, are very, very quaint. Her’s is candy cane with handle bars that are Hello Kitty, Pugh said.
Pugh’s bike is chrome and has baby blue and pink stripes on the wheels.
If anyone has information on this incident they are asked to call police.
