Man Wins Wedding Ring Given To Salvation Army

A north Georgia man is the winning bidder on the diamond wedding ring a bride anonymously donated to the Salvation Army during its annual Red Kettle drive.

The couple, who are trying to guard their identity, walked up to a bell ringer on Dec. 22 and handed her a package with the ring and a note that said although the two were still deeply in love, that the Salvation Army could make better use of the ring than they could.

The ring was put up for auction — with the proceeds going to help Salvation Army programs — and sealed bids were accepted for the past month.

The bids were opened Thursday afternoon, and the highest was a $3,000 bid by Willie Pagan, who owns Willie’s Burger Shack in Dalton.
