Thieves Rob Grandmother, Toss Her Out Of Truck

Atlanta police are looking for a pair of thieves who robbed an elderly woman and tossed her out on the street.

Store surveillance showed a woman stopping 77-year-old grandmother Berma Hall inside a store on Campbellton Road. Hall said the woman asked her for directions before following her outside. Hall said things turned for the worst in the parking lot.

“When I hit that key stick, she ran around and got in the truck, told me, ‘Don’t do nothing,” Hall told Channel 2’s Ryan Young.

Hall said a man hopped in the truck, and they forced her to drive around.

“I’ve never been treated like that,” Hall said.

When they reached Browns Mill Road, Hall said, they took her purse and tossed her out.

“He snatched me out, and I hit the ground, and I bruised my arm. And he hit my nose,” she said.

Atlanta police Detective Richard Houston said it was a brazen attack.

“It’s shocking because this was done in the daytime. This is in broad daylight at a store,” Houston told Young.

Hall said she hasn’t been sleeping well, and she doesn’t want anyone else to go through what she went through.

“Please don’t do no elder like that no more. We work all our life for what we got, for someone to come along and take it. It’s just wrong,” she said.
