Covington Walmarts evacuated over bomb threat

COVINGTON, Ga. — Two Walmart stores in Covington have been evacuated over a bomb threat. Someone called in the threat to 911 Wednesday morning. The caller referenced a Walmart in Newton County, but didn’t specify which one, so store management evacuated two locations around 11:20 a.m., Covington Fire spokesman Tony Smith told Channel 2 Action News. Authorities were investigating stores on Industrial Boulevard and Salem Road into the lunchtime hours.
